We arrive in Pune

We checked our bags to Air India, and once again cannot check our bags all the way through, since we were changing airlines. We had another 8 hour flight to Delhi, and were able to sleep most of the way due to exhaustion. Our neighbors across the aisle kept laughing at Nate because he was sleep talking so much.

Then we had another layover and flew on Kingfisher Air to Pune.
Once we got here, we could not find the shuttle to our hotel, so Kent arranged for a taxi for us. Wow. It is like nothing I have seen, even in China. I was scared. Nate thought it was cool, and I think it is because that is how Nate drives anyway!! The driver just drives wherever there is space open, even if it is on the wrong side of the street. There is no margin for error. There are tons of people riding scooters, dogs, and people walking right in the middle of this. They honk their horns non-stop.

We finally arrived at the Bel Air Hotel of Beverly Hills. It's nothing like the name suggests, but certainly passable. We were all ready to crash. Two and a half days of travel, with the time changes. We will go to BSSK tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. to meet Leena for the first time. We can't wait to hold her in our arms.

Dear Heather,

We met your neighbor Jen at a food drive gathering tonight (Dec 1) here in Little Cottonwood. She noticed we had two children from India and told us a friend is now in India to recieve her child. We asked her if she knew where you were. All she could tell us was that you were 100 miles out of Bombay. We guessed you might be adopting from BSSK and she said, "That's the place!". She then told us of your blog site.

We adopted our children in 1996 and 1999. They are now ages 13 and 11 and both are from BSSK. We travelled to India twice, so can relate to your sense of it being a "parallel universe". It is a fascinating place and we loved our time there. We loved the people at BSSK and the children warmed our hearts. We have so many great memories of both trips---one was trans-Atlantic and one was trans-Pacific.

Our two children are truly gifts and we cannot be happier with them. They are intelligent, kind, good-looking, voracious readers, excellent students, etc...perfect in every way. They both go to school in town at Clayton Jr. High and Uintah. (I thought you'd be curious because you are active in the Granite PTA).

We wish you a safe journey in India and home to the USA. We hope to meet you, your husband, children and new baby, Leena.

Love,
Susan (Another Anonymous--I can't seem to access my Google blog account)

PS: Jen has my husband's business card with contact information.
