Our Journey to Pune, India

Wow, what a day! Or should I say two and an half days. We left our house at 4:00 am Friday November 21st. After stopping in Dallas, and New York, we got on a plane to London. We arrived in London at 6:30 am the following day, and had to go through customs to re-check our bags in to Air India for the next leg of our journey. After a few hours of figuring out what we were doing, we ended up checking in our bags with a "Left Baggage" company, and headed into London. We started the day at Trafalgar Square at Nelson's Column. Sadly, there were no pigeons to feed, it was too cold even for them!

We had hot cocoa in the crypt at St. Martin's In the Field. Then we walked to Buckingham Palace. It was so much fun to be in London again. We walked to Westminster Cathedral by way of St. James Park. The squirrels and pigeons there were huge because of all the food they get. It was fun to see Big Ben, the Thames and the Ferris Wheel.

We finally got to Covent Garden - my favorite place to go in all of London! There were so many people, street performers, and outdoor cafes, even in the freezing weather. I went to one of my favorite shops (that was all Kent and Nate could handle), and then we went on the lookout for lunch. We found a quaint English Pub called "the Coal Hole", where we got Fish & Chips, and English Pie. Well...to our bodies, it now felt like 3:00 in the morning. We kept falling asleep at the table while we were waiting for our food. We were able to get in to see the play The Lion King. The good news is that it is a fabulous play. The bad news is that we slept on and off throughout the play. It was like staying up all day and going to a play at 4:00 in the morning! I kept waking up Nate during the cute songs! After the play, we headed off to Paddington Station to take the train back to the airport. What an adventure. Leena, we can't wait to meet you! Kids, we did find a couple of fun things to bring you from jolly old England. Cheers!

Thank you for your timely postings. Faun and I were reading the blog even as some of the pictures were being transmitted. She kept the phone line busy sharing our excitement with your siblings who are all equally thrilled to share your experiences, almost, thnaks to you, in real time. D-Train was out-of-mind excited as the U took all of the BY out of that team from the South. Love, Grandpa T
